I know, I know, we get this message everywhere we go nowadays!!! But, have you considered that the body that you're now wearing is the only one you get while here on planet earth? Are you taking care of yourself or are you 'going to' soon?
Well, for me, I finally joined a gym and go almost every day, skipping those days when I feel 'less than' and just want to veg out. But I truly have made a commitment to myself to feel better, look better and BE better in my mind, body and affairs.
I average 3-4 times a week at the gym and am working on strength equipment now. I figure that if I get stronger, I will want to do more because I will be seeing results. I've only been at this for about 2 months and actually do feel better, the looking better will come in time, after all, gee whiz, I'm a newbie at this after years of not working out.
I've always watched pretty much what I eat as it goes into my mouth, but some of it simply isn't always for my highest good. I admit to having a sweet tooth and actually bought sugarless hard candy as a substitute for the real thing, and it does work now and then. Then there are times when I crave a piece of cake just for the joy of having cheap icing to eat. Do you know what I mean?
OK, so we're (I'm) weak sometimes, but my intention is to take better care of myself, seems to me I'm the only one who can. No one is knocking at my door to 'make' me eat better, exercise regularly or such. How about you?
I know it can be more fun when you work out with a partner, but since I'm new to this town, I don't have one yet. What if you and I making a commitment to each other to take better care of ourselves? Would that work for you? It would for me. Let's think about ways we can do that. We can make a list of how we can create a better life, giving ourselves more time to just be, not do so much. This alone would help all of us I think.
How about making a list of things you've always wanted to do or accomplish but maybe you're always putting others first and letting your own dreams fade into obscurity? Or, hopefully, they're still there urging you to take another look now and then.
List the the things you do for yourself right now today. Is it a short list? Make it longer, make your life longer by enjoying more of it instead of enduring it week after week. Give yourself the time you deserve to nourish yourself, your soul, your life. Find ways to do that for you, ok? I'm on the way to doing that for me.
Together we can all win at this thing called life, loving more of it and ourselves, too. And when you exercise and eat better, think of me, I'm applying these same principles to my life, too. Together we can all win!!!
Love, Sue
